Physicians and Patients,
After a year of gathering information, the Indigenous health community of interest is inviting physicians and patients to submit their personal experiences within Indigenous health. This is part of a project called, “Truth before Reconciliation” - an honest look at individuals lived experiences and personal perspectives.
We are gathering any experience you feel is relevant and can cover all aspects of the health experience. This project is patient-centred; sharing experiences that can inform and improve the patient experience will be the most sought after. These experiences can be a part of something you experienced directly, or saw/heard about from a trusted source. There is no limit to the number of experiences you can share with us.
We encourage you to anonymize your shared experience as much as possible before sharing it with us. Eliminating patient identifiers such as proper names, birth dates, etc are important. Be assured that any experiences you share with us will be reviewed to ensure that anonymity is maintained not only for the subject of the experience, but also for you the reporter.
Over the next 12 months we will be aggregating these experiences to create patterns of care across Canadian health systems which we plan to present to you at a future event.
As a guideline to sharing your experience you can use the following questions, but please share in the way you feel most comfortable.
We would also encourage you to consider sending your experience through a free anonymous email client such as ProtonMail (www.protonmail.com). The Indigenous COI is committed to maintaining your confidentiality to ensure the risk of reporting is minimized.
If you are interested in becoming a part of the Indigenous COI mailing list, please join this community by clicking "join" at the bottom of your screen.
We look forward to hearing from you!
