Hosted By Dr. Caroline Gérin-Lajoie
For most physicians, the fight against COVID-19 has taken place away from public scrutiny. But for public health physicians, their work has taken centre stage. They’ve had to deal with the relentless pace of the pandemic AND navigate feelings of moral distress that have come from imposing extreme health measures on the public. It’s no surprise then, that a recent survey from Public Health Physicians of Canada found nearly all members were experiencing burnout.
Building on the recent Sound Mind podcast “The personal cost of leading Canada’s public health response to COVID-19” with host Dr. Caroline Gérin-Lajoie, this group session will encourage participants to share their own experiences with burnout and moral distress and develop strategies to deal with these stressors.
